Parent Education

We have a variety of opportunities for parent development this year! These are wonderful ways to learn about your child's time at school, and how to connect Montessori and home.  The more you know about Montessori, the deeper your family's Montessori experience will be!

Final Friday Forums: These take place on the last Friday of the month, from September through May, and take place in the multi-purpose room from 8:45-9:45.  We have coffee together, a few of the teachers share a topic with you, and then we have discussion.  So far, they are a lot of fun!  The schedule is as follows, and topics are subject to change depending on parent feedback.  No need to RSVP - just come!

September 29, 2017: What is the Montessori Method? Why Montessori?

October 27, 2017: Going Out, Field Trips, and the Cosmic Curriculum

November 17, 2017: Phonics, Reading, and Language in the Montessori Classroom

Journey of Discovery: This is a fascinating trip through the Montessori classrooms at all levels, from Toddler through Upper Elementary.  See how it feels to be a child in the environment, observing the room and receiving lessons from teachers.  From 9:00am-1:00pm on a Saturday morning, join up to 20 other parents on this journey through the Montessori environment, and enjoy lunch and discussion together.  We will hold three Journey events this year - September 23, November 18, and January 20!  Please RSVP with the front office for the Journey (reception@mcleanmontessori.org).
