MSM has been offering exceptional Montessori education to children, ages 2-12, in the Northern Virginia area since 1973. We are committed to supporting you as you navigate the admission process and determine the right school for your family.
 
 

 

MSM Admission Portal

If you have not previously inquired with us, please use the Inquiry Form below to connect with the Admission Office. Families interested in enrolling in the 2026-2027 school year will use their personalized MSM Admission Portal to register for Admission events
(such as tours), and to complete and submit our online application by
the application deadline:
January 15, 2026.

We also welcome inquiries for the 2027-2028 school year.
More information about the application process will be available in early October 2026.

TODDLER 

Ages 24 Months–36 Months

  • Parents are highly encouraged to attend one of our Toddler/Primary Parent Information Webinars and to tour our school in-person to observe one of our classrooms during select tour dates this fall/winter. Visit opportunities will be emailed to prospective families this fall.
  • By January 15 deadline: complete and submit our online application along with any additional, required documentation.
  • Parent(s) participate in an individual Zoom call with members of the Admission Committee who will review your application and answer any questions.
  • ​​​​​​​Notifications are sent the first week of March.

PRIMARY

Age 3 (by Sept. 30) – Age 6

  • Parents are highly encouraged to attend one of our Toddler/Primary Parent Information Webinars and to tour our school in-person to observe one of our classrooms during select tour dates this fall/winter. Visit opportunities will be emailed to prospective families this fall.
  • By January 15 deadline: complete and submit our online application along with any additional required documentation.
  • Parent(s) and child participate in an individual Child Visit and Parent Meeting where members of the Admission Committee will also review your application and answer any questions.
  • ​​​​​​​Notifications are sent the first week of March.

ELEMENTARY

Ages 6–12

  • Parents are highly encouraged to attend one of our Elementary Parent Information Webinars, and to tour our school in-person to observe one of our classrooms during select tour dates this fall/winter. Visit opportunities will be emailed to prospective families this fall.
  • By January 15 deadline: complete and submit our online application along with any additional, required documentation (including a teacher recommendation).
  • Parent(s) and student participate in an individual Shadow Visit. Parents also meet with members of the Admission Committee who will also review your application and answer any questions.
  • Student participates in a half-day visit in one of our Elementary classrooms.
  • Notifications are sent the first week in March

When enrolling, parents should intend to continue enrollment throughout the entirety of the three-year program in which their children are placed, and should also be open to learning about the Montessori approach to learning at the Elementary level (grades 1–6)

  • For the Primary level, the three-year program encompasses the Kindergarten year.
  • For the Elementary level, this is through the third year for Lower Elementary (age 9), and through the sixth year for Upper Elementary (age 12)
